What a lucky guy.

You Californians have all the luck.

I had to laugh at you, Ryan. I can imagine myself in a similar situation. I didn't even recognize who was in the photo, and I had no idea about Mira's accomplishments. She's the one from American Beauty, right? I also love the smirk on the face of the woman to your left.

Last year I was recommending the Patch Adams movie with Robin Williams to my elders, when one of them, an old log truck driver, said, "I know Robin Williams." Turns out he had met him in Smithers, BC when he was filming. So far I have yet to meet anyone famous.

Ryan Bell

Well, the smirking woman to my left is...my wife! Mira is not the one from American Beauty, that would be Mena Suvari. This is Mira Sorvino. Good guess, though!. Mira Sorvino won an Oscar for her role in Woody Allen's Mighty Aphrodite (1995). She done other good stuff since then, too.

Now it's your turn to laugh at me. I suppose I should spend a little more time with the IMDB. If I were pastoring in Hollywood, could I call it "demographics research"?

  • Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction.... The chain reaction of evil - hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars - must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.
